The Millon™ Index of Personality Styles Revised (MIPS® Revised) Test Now Available from Pearson Assessments

January 8, 2004, MINNEAPOLIS—Pearson Assessments announces the addition of the MIPS Revised test to its offering of psychological assessments. This addition enables Pearson Assessments to provide the complete line of highly respected personality assessments developed by Theodore Millon, PhD, DSc.

Since acquiring rights to publish and distribute the MIPS Revised test, Pearson Assessments made enhancements to the test’s features. It can now be administered and scored with the flexible, easy-to-use Q Local™ scoring software. Hand-scoring and mail-in scoring options are also available. And, customers can now order as many or as few test administrations as needed; there are no predetermined order quantities.

Developed by Dr. Millon, a renowned personality theorist, the MIPS Revised test was introduced in 1994 and revised in 2003. The test addresses the need for a theoretically grounded instrument to help assess normal adult personality that can be administered by a broad range of professionals, including mental health clinicians, social workers, human resource specialists, and career counselors. The test is used to aid adults who are experiencing relational difficulties in work settings, marriage, family, or other relationships.

The MIPS Revised test addresses three key dimensions of normal personality:

  • Motivating Styles—one’s emotional style of dealing with his/her environment
  • Thinking Styles—one’s mode of cognitive processing
  • Behaving Styles—one’s style of interrelating to others

The test offers separate norms for adults and college students and for separate or combined genders. In addition, the test’s Clinical Index helps to screen for the possible presence of mental disorders in persons who present as normal.

The MIPS Revised test has proven useful in:

  • relationship and marriage counseling and pre-marital guidance
  • individual counseling
  • career planning
  • leadership and employee development
  • employee selection screening

Human resource professionals and career counselors can administer the MIPS Revised test; a psychologist is not needed for administration, a requirement of many other tests.

For more information about the MIPS Revised test and the report options available, call Pearson Assessments at 800-627-7271, ext. 3225.
