Results of Research Conducted with Inmates and the MCMI-III™ Test to be Presented at National Conference

July 17, 2000, MINNEAPOLIS—Correctional psychologist John Stoner, PhD, will present "Personality Disorder Screening of Prison Inmates" at the 24th National Conference on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), September 9–13, 2000, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Stoner's presentation will present the results of a five-year study conducted with more than 10,000 Colorado inmates. Since 1995, nearly all incoming Colorado prisoners were administered the MCMI-III™ (Millon™ Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III) Corrections Report by Theodore Millon, PhD, DSc, as part of a battery of intake assessments. The inmates' results, along with a several other variables, were used to help Dr. Stoner and Paul Retzlaff, PhD, begin making correlations between MCMI-III test results and predictions of inmate behavior.

"The research has given us empirical data about what actually has happened with inmates, allowing us to create much more focused behavioral projections, " Dr. Stoner commented. As a result, Stoner's presentation will focus on how these data can be used to triage inmates and better manage mental health intervention.
