New BBHI 2 Psychological Assessment Helps Make the Mind/Body Connection
August 15, 2002, MINNEAPOLIS—Pearson Assessments, a business of Pearson Education, announces the release of the BBHI™ 2 (Brief Battery for Health Improvement 2) assessment, developed in response to the growing evidence documenting the complex interrelationship between mind and body.
Test Written for Physicians, Nurses and Other Medical Practitioners
The BBHI 2 test was written specifically to be used by physicians, nurses and other medical practitioners and, unlike most psychological tests, was designed to be integrated with medical data. The test helps measure such psychomedical issues as a patient’s level of pain, function, depression, anxiety, somatic complaints, and defensiveness and provides results that are relevant for cases involving injury, chronic pain, illness, or disease.
Test Administered Quickly
Patients can complete the BBHI 2 test in less than 10 minutes. The test can be administered via paper-and-pencil, PC, or an electronic handheld device. Immediate results are available through an in-office computerized scoring system or can be obtained within one hour using a fax-in scoring service. The BBHI 2 test’s report compares the patient’s scores to both medical and community samples, and offers likely explanations for the highest and lowest scores. The report also offers general suggestions for treatment strategies and a 1-page patient summary, written in layperson’s language, to help present the data to the patient.
Medical practitioners can help ensure that diagnosis and treatment planning take the mind/body connection into account by gathering psychomedical data through the BBHI 2 test.
