What's New in 2002?

2002, MINNEAPOLIS—Since Pearson Assessments, formerly NCS Assessments, opened its doors 40 years ago, the speed of change has rapidly accelerated—and we’ve seen the dramatic difference it has made in the way psychologists run their practices.

From courtrooms to classrooms, from prisons to public safety settings, we remain committed to providing psychologists with assessments and resources that are on pace with their needs.

Read on to find out more about what’s new in 2002:

MMPI-2™ Revised Personnel System, Third Edition

  • Designed by noted MMPI-2 expert, James N. Butcher, PhD to help identify individuals who may be emotionally unsuited for high-risk, high-stress positions, such as law enforcement, security, and nuclear facility personnel.

  • Two reports are available. The comprehensive Interpretive Report is tailored to each occupation and includes the following sections: Profile Validity, Personal Adjustment, Interpersonal Relations, Profile Frequency, Contemporary Personnel Base Rate Information, Profile Stability, and Possible Employment Problems. The Adjustment Rating Report graphically represents ratings for five work-related dimensions in a one-page summary format: Openness to Evaluation, Social Facility, Addiction Potential, Stress Tolerance, and Overall Adjustment.

  • New occupation-specific mean profiles help compare applicants to other applicants, based on data from more than 18,000 personnel cases.

  • Contemporary personnel base rate information complements the new mean profiles by providing profile frequency data for public safety occupations and general personnel applicants. This new narrative section is only available in the Interpretive Report.

  • The newly-updated User’s Guide addresses key issues about using the MMPI-2 test for personnel selection, such as how to choose the appropriate test and how to administer the test effectively, along with detailed information on the development of the mean profiles.

Also see our MMPI-2 Revised Personnel System, Third Edition web page.

BBHI™ 2 (Brief Battery for Health Improvement 2)

  • A short self-report screener designed specifically to help medical practitioners make the mind/body connection between a patient’s physical symptoms and psychosocial factors.

  • Measures level of pain, function, depression, anxiety, somatic complaints, and defensiveness.

  • Available for test administration using a hand-held electronic device, paper-and-pencil or computer methods.

  • Report compares patient’s raw and t-scores to both medical and community samples and offers likely explanations for the highest and lowest scores.

  • Report also offers general suggestions for treatment strategies and a one-page patient summary, written in layperson’s language, to help the practitioner present data to patient.

Also see our BBHI-2 web page.
