We all know that psychologists work in multiple settings, including hospitals, rehab centers, multidisciplinary clinics, schools, and correctional facilities. However, according to APA, nearly half (45%) of doctoral-level psychologists work in private practices, so understanding their needs was an important consideration in designing the new Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale®, Fifth Edition (WAIS®-5). As both testing professionals and business owners, private practice psychologist care about making the best use of their time and resources, while still obtaining reliable and valid data that allows them to make clinically accurate diagnoses and decisions. In this webinar, we’ll look at the new WAIS-5, paying special attention to what makes it the perfect fit for psychologists in private practice.
After completing this learning track, the participants will be able to:
- Analyze the amount of time needed to obtain a Full Scale IQ or the primary index scores using the WAIS-5
- Contrast how time savings were created without sacrificing clinical accuracy
- Examine the WAIS–IV subtests that were removed, as well as how to apply the new subtests
- Analyze the role of cognitive ability testing in adult assessments and identify three features of the WAIS-5 that make it well-suited for use by private practitioners
