Dean C. Delis, PhD
Dean C. Delis, PhD, ABPP-CN, is a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, where he has been a professor since 1985. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and board certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. For over 25 years, he served as codirector of training in neuropsychology in the joint doctoral program in clinical psychology at UCSD and San Diego State University, and director of the Psychological Assessment Unit at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He has published over 200 research articles, book chapters, and books on cognitive sequelae of various neurological and psychiatric disorders in children and adults, and he has served on the editorial boards of several journals in neuropsychology. Dr. Delis is also the lead author of several neuropsychological tests that are used nationally, including the California Verbal Learning Test - 3 (CVLT-3); CVLT - Children's Version; Delis Rating of Executive Functions – Children and Adult versions (D-REF); Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System (D-KEFS); and the new D-KEFS – Advanced.
He has served on the Pearson Advisory Board for the development of several other tests, including the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-5) and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – Fifth Edition (WAIS-5). He currently has a private practice in neuropsychological assessment of children and adults in San Diego. His awards include the Edith Kaplan Award for Distinguished Contribution to Neuropsychological Test Development from the Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society; the Ralph M. Reitan Award for Clinical Excellence from the National Academy of Neuropsychology; the Distinguished Career Award from the International Neuropsychological Society; and the Distinguished Lifetime Contribution to Neuropsychology Award from the National Academy of Neuropsychology.
