Research Assistance Program
Our Research Assistance Program (RAP) is designed to encourage post-publication research that provides new information about the applications and characteristics of our instruments. By making the results of such studies available to the field, you will be contributing to scientific knowledge and sound professional practice.
Terms and conditions
- The RAP offers a 40% discount up to $2000 discount on $5000 of purchase on off the shelf digital and print test materials and scoring services (applicable to all quantity level prices) for approved research studies conducted in the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii.
- For other geographic territories, please see the international website for details on local RAP program details, as appropriate.
- The proposed project should be a non-billable, potentially publishable, well-designed research study that will be of interest to others in the field. In general, program evaluation studies do not qualify because program evaluation is one of the standard applications of tests and because such research is not focused on providing new information about the tests.
- Studies funded by pharmaceutical or medical device companies need to submit requests through Pharma Research Services.
- Studies with greater than 500 participants and multisite studies will be routed through sales for management of the account.
- For multisite studies, the discount is awarded for the study and the limit applies across sites.
- Products that Pearson distributes but does not publish (or that are not listed on the US website) do not qualify for the discount. Nor do already-discounted items like combo kits. For information about the eligible products, call +1 (800) 627-7271.
- Requests for products from the University of Minnesota (e.g., MMPI-3) must submit requests through the University of Minnesota.
- The researcher (or a member of the research project team) must meet the Pearson user qualification requirements for the tests used in the research project.
- The RAP grants a one-time discount for the test materials and scoring services specified in the original application. Researchers should include in their original application all of the materials and scoring services they expect to need for the project. A new application is required if additional materials or scoring services are needed.
- Digital usages must be purchased at the time of approval, pay-as-you-go option is not available through the RAP.
- The discounted price of the Q-Interactive license must be paid for multiple years at the initial purchase and is applied to the years of the license upon renewal each year applicable.
- Training is not discounted through the RAP.
- The reproduction or translation of tests is prohibited under the RAP. This includes display and administration through non-Pearson platforms (e.g, REDCAP). Use of tests in any way other than the way they are published by Pearson, requires prior written consent and is subject to a fee. For information on licensing permissions please see: Permissions & licensing.
- Licensing fees are not discounted through the RAP.
- The research must have IRB or equivalent approval before we can consider a request for assistance.
- Scoring services: Q Local™ software and fees are not discounted through the RAP. For Mail-In Scoring, you may receive the standard RAP discount.
- The maximum amount (full retail value) for which the discount may apply is $5,000. This maximum applies across all renewals for a study.
- Retroactive applications are not honored, and no returns, credits, or exchanges are allowed.
- Shipping charges apply and will be calculated based on the discounted total (this includes standard, expedited, and other shipping charges).
If your application is complete and approved, we will process it within ten business days of receipt. You'll be contacted only if there is a question, missing/incorrect information, or if your project is not approved. If you are unable to print the application or if you have further questions, call +1 (800) 627-7271.
